Urijah Faber tells the UFC he wants Cruz’s title

Urijah Faber

The California Kid, Urijah Faber has no issue calling out his nemesis Dominick Cruz, especially since Cruz carries the title that has eluded the soCal native. Faber has been granted the shot shortly after the call out at the victory of Brian Bowles at a recent UFC event. It only took Faber half the round to finish the also former champ Dominick Cruz with his infamous guillotine choke. Urijah Faber next fight slapped it on and nearly put Bowles to sleep in seconds. Cruz was ring side and commented by saying he would love to punch Faber in the face again. Cruz had recently also defeated Faber, but not by finish but a close five round brawl. In the end the judges let Cruz save his title.

Faber has since said he addressed the small holes that Cruz exploited in their bout and expects to fully dominate this time around. For Cruz, his advantage came in the longer reach advantage and it unknown how Faber plans to combat this. Urijah Faber is known for the better submission game and usually the wrestling pedigree, however in their last bout and even in Cruz’s recent victory over mighty Mo Johnson, Cruz was able to sprawl the takedown or get right back to his feet ever time. Cruz may have the long length to dominate like reigning champ Jon Jones, but that lengthyness can also be a negative aspect as many submission artist like Faber are able to slide submissions under a slender neck easier.
